The murder trial of Lindsay Clancy resumed with psychologist testimony and rebuttal witnesses as closing arguments are expected later this week. Clancy is accused of killing her three young children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, at their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023.

Prosecutors argue the killings were deliberate, stating that Clancy sent her husband out on errands before strangling the children and attempting suicide. The defense maintains that Clancy was experiencing postpartum psychosis and could not appreciate the wrongfulness of her actions. After the defense rested Friday, prosecutors began calling rebuttal witnesses, which included a tense cross-examination of Dr. Avram Mack by defense attorney Kevin Reddington.

A mistrial was requested after a second rebuttal witness, psychologist Dr. Kirk Heilbrun, mentioned Clancy's Catholic faith during his testimony. The judge denied the mistrial motion, instructed the jurors to disregard the comments, and sent them home. Clancy did not testify during the proceedings.
