The Met Office has issued fresh thunderstorm warnings across large parts of England and Wales, bringing threats of large hail, flash flooding, and travel disruption. Birmingham was hit by significant flooding on Thursday morning, prompting emergency response teams into action.

West Midlands Fire Service deployed six crews alongside police and council teams to manage rising water levels affecting Curbar Road, Thornbridge Avenue, and Haddon Road after a severe flood warning was issued for Perry Brook in Perry Barr. Officials urged residents to avoid walking, cycling, or driving through floodwater.

Forecasters warn that severe disruption and power cuts could continue as the unsettled weather persists. The first Met Office warning began at 02:00 BST for south-east England, followed by a second warning at 06:00 BST lasting until 22:00 BST. The wettest areas could see up to 75mm of rain, accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and humid conditions, with spells of rain continuing through the weekend bank holiday.
