Large parts of Australia are facing a wet finish to winter as a broad band of rain and storms stretches across the country. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, a low pressure system in the south is driving wet weather from Tasmania to central Queensland. The system is expected to deliver locally heavy rain of 30 to 50 millimetres to parts of South Australia, including the Eyre and Yorke peninsulas and the Adelaide Hills.

Areas on either side of the New South Wales and Victoria border are under severe rainfall warnings for Tuesday, with up to 60 millimetres of rain possible in the Snowy Mountains and Victoria's northeast ranges. This heavy rain prompts a flash flood warning and could be followed by punchy thunderstorms in inland New South Wales. While heavy rain should ease by Tuesday afternoon, severe thunderstorms may follow, and most of New South Wales is expected to be drenched.
