The defense has rested its case in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, a 36-year-old former nurse who has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the January 24, 2023, deaths of her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan, at their Duxbury, Massachusetts home. Clancy does not deny strangling her children, but her attorney is pursuing an insanity defense, arguing she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, an uncommon and potentially dangerous psychiatric emergency.

During the trial, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Philip Resnick testified that Clancy told him she felt an "external force" take over her body before the murders, and he concluded she was experiencing postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors, however, have argued that Clancy deliberately planned the killings. Following the close of the defense's testimony, the prosecution began calling rebuttal witnesses, which included a forensic psychiatrist who testified that Clancy recalled telling her children "go to God" while strangling them.
